21 Oct New Orleans ~ The Documentary
A door opened for me this spring. I had the honor of being chosen as one of 27 people from around the US to visit New Orleans for 5 days. While there I was to assess the city’s entrepreneurial rebirth after Katrina. In return for this all-expense paid trip, I was to share, through my social media channels, my honest observations.
In five short days I fell in love with that city. And the people I met – oh, they will forever be part of me.
A documentary was filmed of this innovative project. The preview was this past Sunday evening. Ten of the 27 came back for it – from places as far away as NYC, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Austin, Cleveland, and Buffalo.
Two of the 27 have already relocated to New Orleans. Two others are moving in 2013. Several of us are working on projects that will take us back to the city. That tells you what a magical place it is.
The city and its people are on fire. Tax incentives abound. Venture capital is flowing. Corporations are hiring. Not unlike the mid-1800s when gold was discovered in the west, there’s opportunity in New Orleans like nowhere else in the US.

The rest? Well, you’ll just have to move there.
