There’s Nothing Krispy Kreme Won’t Cure

Kripy Kreme Doughnuts

My favorite comfort food.

Woke up a little low this morning. Lots of things on my mind. I figured a walk just might cure me.

This time I wanted to walk a totally different area so I headed straight to town, to the Krispy Kreme on Ponce. Still a bit dark outside and with a few minutes to kill, I ordered a dozen hot doughnuts and a cup of their incredible coffee. I figured it just might be what the doctor ordered for my sour mood. You can guess how many I ate.

This neighborhood was quite different from the others I’ve walked. Here it was, hardly 7:00am, and already I had seen a drunk stumbling down the street. A man screamed at me for taking a photo of a homeless man asleep on the sidewalk. I listened to an old man sing opera as he waited for the bus. And I popped into a zippy mart and witnessed three different men scratch off their lottery tickets. Being a Saturday, guess yesterday was payday.

Although I felt a bit nervous at times during this morning’s walk, I was enthralled by what I discovered. It was apparent to me that certain neighborhoods get all the fun. Oh, I might open my windows and hear Shirley playing the piano across our back yards. But we NEVER get opera at our bus stops.

All these photos were within one square mile (intown Atlanta):

Okay, I ate three. And yes, I’m in much better spirits. Like the title says, ‘There’s nothing Krispy Kreme won’t cure.” I’ve already checked. There a Krispy Kreme listed in Penn Station in NYC. If I get down or lonely while in New York, I know exactly where to go.

I like reading about you and your stories (and I saw Ryka shoes at my friends running store today!) I can’t wait for your adventure! Perhaps I will eat a donut or 3 in honor of you tomorrow!

(If you go to that Green’s it is QUITE the experience.)
