I Need Walking Accountability Partners
Must start the dreaded exercise routine. TODAY. In just 23 days I’ll land in Paris and will be walking 4-5 hours per day, every day. I know once I get there, I’ll jump at the chance to walk but right now, I am cramming in work, blog posts, doing research . . . just sitting at the computer all day. The thought of even a simple walk around the block seems painful – especially in this heat.
I was at a conference this past week in New York and forced to walk several miles at a time. (Well, ok, I wasn’t forced. I misread my subway map and got off 3 or 4 stops too early). My feet are still swollen, and I’ve got blisters on top of blisters on both feet from my inadequate shoes. I made the mistake of trying to be fashionable instead of smart.
I remember last summer, in preparation for NY, I put this same message on Facebook and several friends scheduled me – forced me – into a walking routine. Accountability partners, they became. Once I got out walking, I loved it. It’s just that nudge, that kick in the rear, that I need.
Ok, Lisa, today’s to-do list includes buying some walking shoes for Paris. Then I’ve got to line up walking partners from here on out.
